When DigitalPersona Pro for Active Directory is installed on a computer, end users need to verify who they are with their fingerprints to log on to their Windows account. This ensures only they can access the important business data available on the PC and helps protect your business against the risk and potential liabilities of accidental data loss.

With the addition of the ID Server add-on to DigitalPersona Pro for Active Directory, you can also completely eliminate the need to provide users with any other credentials, including usernames. DigitalPersona Pro for Active Directory will identify the user and grant him access to computers or kiosks with the appropriate privileges

Protect logon to enterprise applications

DigitalPersona Pro for Active Directory provides Single SignOn-like functionality for all your business programs and applications.

IT Managers can easily add a program or application to the list of logons supported by DigitalPersona and deploy the appropriate settings to users and computers using Active Directory Group Policy Objects. From then on, users do not need to use passwords anymore.

Every time a user wants to log on to a protected application, he will see a fingerprint icon displayed on the logon screen. By simply scanning his fingerprint, he will be granted appropriate access without any need of providing additional information.

Components 

DigitalPersona Pro for Active Directory includes server and client software

DigitalPersona AD Server

The server component ties with Active Directory and provides your IT Manager with management tools that allow to centrally manage and configure client software throughout the organization.

In addition, Pro AD Server can be configured to act as authentication server. When end users scan their fingerprints at their computer, the server completes the fingerprint matching process and verifies the user's identity. This allows you to:

• Maximimze the security of the application by making sure that the authentication process is protected from malicious applications that may run on the computers;

• Provide roaming capability for end users. Whenever a user needs to log on to a computer, he will just need to scan his fingerprint to be recognized and log on without the need to re-register his fingerprint on all computers.

You can add the ID Server add-on to DigitalPersona Pro Server to add identification functionality to DigitalPersona Pro. An authentication system verifies credentials for a user whose identity is known - e.g. because he typed his username or because he previously logged on from a given computer. The ID Server add-on compares the fingeprints of an unknown user with those of all users in the database, thus identifying who the user is without the need to provide any additional information.

DigitalPersona Pro for Active Directory client software

DigitalPersona Pro for Active Directory client software provides end users with authentication functionality on their computers for Windows and applications logon. DigitalPersona Pro supports two different client configurations:

• DigitalPersona Pro Workstation, which is the client software of choice if in your organization each user uses a dedicated Windows account
• DigitalPersona Pro Kiosk, which is the client software if in your organizations some users share a common Windows account

DigitalPersona Pro for Active Directory supports any mixed environment of Workstationa and Kiosk clients.
