protectdrive SC achieves this without storing any passwords or disk encryption keys on the disk. This provides the highest level of security achievable in software. Because protectdrive SC is implemented as a set of low level routines which are loaded before the operating system, it is very efficient, ensuring optimal performance regardless of the application or environment. Therefore, while protectdrive SC provides the highest standard of protection available, it does so with outstanding efficiency. Combining protectdrive SC with protectdrive SC Manager, the software takes the worry out of smart card based user management, with the result to offering a no compromise solution to workstation or portable PC access control.

Offering the highest level of security achievable in software, protectdrive sc is easy to install, use, and administer. protectdrive SC does not require knowledge of cryptographic key management as neither passwords or disk encryption keys are stored on the hard disk. When installed, protectdrive SC integrates with the PC operating system to boot from a single sign-on password and operate transparently with minimum speed degradation. Complementing strength with flexibility, protectdrive SC enables the user to encrypt the whole hard disk or selected partitions using either a 64 bit proprietary, 56 bit DES, or 128 bit IDEA encryption algorithm.
The flexibility of protectdrive SC is unique. The user may choose to install options that range from selectively encrypted files to full disk encryption, the preferred encryption algorithm is selectable (64 bit proprietary or 56 bit DES). protectdrive SC security may be enhanced through seamless integration with eracom hardware encryption adapters.
